According to Kiosk Marketplace....
Access IS will demonstrate its BGR135C boarding gate reader that accepts 2D barcode boarding passes and reads contactless frequent flyer cards and tags from NFC enabled mobile phones April 18-20 in Vienna at Passenger Terminal Expo 2012.
Access has already supplied a customized version of this multifunctional product to Qantas Airlines and offers customers of the existing BGR120 family a simple upgrade to allow contactless RFID and NFC capability, according to a company press release.
The BGR135C reads 2D barcodes face-up, proven to be quicker and more intuitive for customers and agents to use. The device automatically detects the presence of the passive RFID chip in the cards when presented by the passenger and reads its contents securely within a second.
Visitors at the Expo will also see one of the worlds smallest optical character recognition engines designed for custom integration into portable handheld terminals, ultra-mobile PCs and tablets. The OCR310 reads passports as well as other machine-readable travel documents and ID cards. The company will show a concept product which combines a sealed 2D barcode imager with an NFC reader for integration into kiosksand self-service gates, according to the release.
